Contests and Challenges..

I've been meaning to post a few things I've done in the last few weeks,
but with all the stuff I've signed up for..it's been a little busy.
The good news is I'm done!
Done volunteering that is.At least for a few months.I will be back again for the fair next year but with the closure of our school that means I don't have anything on the go.
So here are a few things I've been working on in between..

I recently volunteered to do a cake and 100 cupcakes for a friend..thats right 100 cupcakes. At first I thought..no problem but it took over 6 hours to decorate them! That was with help!
The effort was worth it though eveyone was impressed.
Let me know what you think..

Hopefully she has some better pictures and I can post them when she does.

Painting has always been a passion of mine.I love it and I finally  bought some new canvases to do some painting.

I have a bunch more but need to do some photos....I love them and have a hard time giving them away...

AS you all know I was lucky to beome part of Cropchocolates DT this term.I'll show you those projects as they are released but for now I can show you a few of the Focus Group challenges and the weekly challenges on CC..

This is my favourite one so far.

The challenge for this one was

Pop Color

A home decor project or altered item using neutrals and one main focal color.

I just didn't have the heart to destroy a real book so I made one.

Last but not least,my last project of the day.

I still need to take a picture to put in it but I have an idea in mind.

Patterns Galore!

Its summer, a time of freedom and less restriction. For this week's challenge, use 3 patterned papers any way you want to. Let your creativity shine like that summer sun and layer up those patterned papers on a card, layout, an altered project --whatever your creative heart desires.

Well that's just a little bit of what I've been up to..I'll try to update a bit more often...
have a great day!

The new DT projects were totally amazing and I gotta say I feel blessed to be a part of the group of ladies.

Now it's time to pick a winner!!

I used a random number picker and my lucky winner is number 9!!

Guess who?

Just LOVE all your cards . . . you are such an inspiration to me and I'm so glad we are on the DT together where I can be inspired even more. :)

This is the third win for Kathy this weekend and good for her!

She's off to have surgery soon and we'll all be praying for a quick recovery...a little blog candy should help!

..and on with the show...

I was going to do a layout but I had to make some cards for the teachers from our school,so here they are...
All these cards were made with my 6x6 paper pads and cardstock from Stampin Up.
The thank you stamps were from the dollar store (love that place!!)
TH ink pads and SU Cocoa ink pad
Bling from random packages and twine from Funday

MME Blink of an Eye

 MME Darling Dear

I love the distressing on this card.

For the French teacher..appropriate don't ya think?

MME Lot and Found-Portobello Road

Favourite book Challenge

For this months Focus Group ,we were challenged to do a project based on our favourite book.
I have so many that it was hard to make a decision but in the  end it all came down to this lady..

(I'm not sure I am allowed to post her picture so here clink on her name to link to it)

Her series Outlander is my favorite by far! But Dragonfly in Amber is the one I fell in love with first.

So my project is based on that book.
If you'd like to read the series yourself here is the link to her webpage
and all the information you'll need along with a few snippets from each book...
trust me you'll love it!

So without further ado..

I used paper from Lilac House.
I wired and beaded a dragonfly, used plastic packaging and dragged it through some alcohol ink.
I stained the rim with green alcohol ink and added some rolled flowers.they were distressed and sprayed with some pearl mist. After cutting out the leaves I scored them and distressed them so you can see the ridges.
The picture is of my mom and aunt as little girls..mom told me to take it out and she was right it does look better now but I love that picture
.(mom is the girl in the middle Anne otherwise known as Bo on CC)

I liked how this project turned out but after handling the jar so much I had to take it all apart and now I have to clean the fingerprints off...oh well.
Thanks,I hope you enjoyed my project and if you'd like to see some more from my fellow FG members pop on over to CropChocolate and take a peek.

Be sure to pop back at the end of next week for a Design Team Hop,there will be goodies to give away and some fantastic projects to see.
