November DT Project do-over..

Well as I said before,I had finished my block letters THANKFUL but then realized Julie had done that before me so even though Amber said it was ok,I decided to do a different one.

I didn't mind at all because I had been wanting to do this project for a while anyway.

I am truly thankful for my family even if they drive me crazy some days.
Having two teenagers is really nuts and my DD is turning 10 today with the attitude of a 16 year old so the next few years are guaranteed to be rough going.

Even still,I love them,I wouldn't trade  them in for anything...not even a pony.

I chose to do a 3d star with photos of my family.
Here is the pin that inspired this project.

I made this from cereal boxes!I was going to paint it black but decided to leave the brown of the cardboard.
I made the mistake of printing my pictures smaller thinking it would be easier to cut to fit but next time I would  keep them 4x6.

I used Summers End paper pad from CC and the chipboard accesories to finish it off.
All the edges are distressed with brown ink.
If you would like instructions on how to make this, head over to Instructagram by clicking on the link at the bottom.

Leave me a comment here and go back to Cropchocolate.com to let me know you did and I will pick one lucky person to recieve a little thank you in the mail.

Traditions and other things

Thanksgiving is behind us but our friends to the south are just about to celebrate.

So many of us have traditions each year that we love to do,so for
Novembers focus group project we were challenged to make a project showcasing our family traditions.

While we do have a few holiday traditions in our home,I don't really have many pictures of them.I am also not in the scrapbooking mood lately so creating a layout just wasn't going to cut it for me.
Instead I chose to create something with a weekly tradition.

Movie Night!

We love popcorn around here and so this is my take on a family tradition.

I started by making a gift bag from cardstock. You can find the pin HERE
I made a bag topper for the top,
You can also find the bag topper link HERE
I cut windows in the sides and added some embellishments.
Then I filled it with popcorn...then I ate it.

I recently went to a crop and donated a couple prizes. That gift bag pattern came in handy.
You can change the measurements to suit your needs also.

This weeks challenge on CC:

From Nina and Chris:
Incorporate more than one color in your background using paint or ink.

I embossed my card with Zing Embossing Powders and used my daubbers to "paint" the background with Tim Holtz Distressing Inks
I used a saying from Winterland and dyed my celery ribbon pink to match. It looks better IRL.

For Novembers DT challenge,I really struggled. It took me a long time to figure something out.
Our challenge was to be inspired by ...Being Thankful.

I started with a mini but that just ..sucked.

Then I thought I could go back to my old school style.Painting wood.

I chose to paint the blocks and adhere paper from Summers End.
It really is a great collection for Fall.

Well after checking the DT wall..I found out someone else had already done wood blocks...Opps!

You can see the instructions for Julies project HERE

And here is mine.

 Great minds think a like....

You'll have to wait a few more days to see my new November project!

This is just a little fun board I was playing with. The wood is really old and has a great colour to it,I think I am going to change it a bit though..when I get a minute or two...

Well that's all for today,
be sure to check back in a few when I reveal my November DT project and maybe I'll have a little contest for that too...

Contests I love them...
Leave me some love and head over to CC to check them out.
Tell me in your post you did so and I will send one lucky winner  a package of Movie Night snacks.
I will draw my winner on Monday November 19.
Be sure to check back!

If you are intested in contests check out these two great ones

Haunted House

For Octobers DT challenge we had to do a project inspired by candy!!

Wow this one was great I love candy and with Halloween...what a better project could you think of than a haunted gingerbread house.
Can't eat this one but I love it!

and here are few detailed pictures.

For details on how to build one for yourself check out Instructagram.

So this weeks challenge on CC was:
From Jenni:
Based off of Christina's Haunted House, create a project which contains an image of a house or the word home or both.
For added challenge, use something found in your house - twine from garden, string from toolbox, bottle cap, pull tab from soda can, etc. This is not a requirement but just an added element.

This is my entry

The plan is to make a whole village for Christmas but...that may not happen.

Have a great day!
