My Favourite things...1 year in review.

So a couple ladies over on CC have decided to showcase their favourite things that they have done this year and I thought maybe I would join in..
AS you will notice not all of them are scrapbook related.

I don't remember why I did this acrylic album but one lucky person got it in the ,mail. It was a challenge but I liked it and since I don't use mini albums I thought I would just give it to someone that does.

I love this layout and about two minutes after completing it..I lost those stamps...somewhere in my scrap room but I have yet to find them...

This past spring we were informed one of our cats had feline leukemia and we were advised to put him down. This picture reminds me of how much we love him...and we chose not to put him down..he is doing well and hasn't been sick since. So glad I listened to my gut instinct instead.

This was a challenge based on your favourite book.Inside is a dragonfly for DRagonfly in Amber.
I added a picture of my mom as a child also but she told me it looked better without it so I removed it..

This past Thanksgivig we went camping and it was honestly my favourite camping trip ever.

This was my bigest project and I did this for Octobers DT.
Probably the most time consuming but I just love it.

Lastly my most favourite of them all...

Hope you had a great year and see you in 2013.

Winner

 And the winner is....

Super cute! Those spiders are neat...I wonder if the legs are the only solid bead part or if it is all beading. Either way, very pretty! Love the boxes, too. Can't tell if that's the lovely celery ribbon or just the buckle, but it goes so well with the box! =D

Congrats!!
As soon as I hear from you I will get your little spider in th email.
Have a Happy New Year!!

Last Minute Christmas Gift

It's almost here!!!
CHRISTMAS!!!
Yes I do love it but this year has been well kinda blah..maybe Christmas morning will change things.

Well if you are looking for a last minute Christmas gift and have no money left here's an easy solution.
All you will need are a few scraps of material,a sewing machine and some rice.

That's all?
I decided at the last minute to make all the little kiddies some hand warmers to keep their fingers toasty.
These would have been great when we went camping this past Thanksgiving.

Cut your chosen material into squares, sewing them right sides facing, sew three sides, turn inside out and stitch around the three sides again.
Fill with rice and turn last edge over and sew closed.

30-60 seconds in the microwave and you have a sweet little handwarmer for when the kids come in after playing in the snow or maybe for their pockets if you are going for a walk.

I think you can even put them in the freezer for when they
 have a boo boo...

Well that's all for today and if you are interested in winning a sweet little treat head on over to
post and leave me some love.

Have a Merry Christmas!

December is Almost over.

First off I want to send my love and condolences to the families in Newtown that just lost their loved ones.
My heart breaks for you and I pray God will be with you and help lift you up in his arms in this horrible time of great sorrow.

Need a box?

Make one!

I have these little gifts for my friends,
even though we aren't exchanging this year
(the economy has hit so hard we aren't exchanging!
Gasp!What!!
But it's Christmas!!)
I bought these months ago before we agreed no presents,so they are getting them anyway.

These beautiful little spiders are made by my friend Cassandra.
Cassandra has Chiari and had surgery this past year to fix her head..

In case you are wondering what Chiari is check out THIS link

The story of the Christmas Spider goes like this...

A long time ago in Germany, a mother was busily cleaning for Christmas.
The spiders fled upstairs to the attic, to escape the broom.

When the house became quiet the spiders slowly crept downstairs for a peek. Oh what a beautiful tree!

In their excitement they scurried up the trunk and out along each branch.
They were filled with happiness as they climbed amongst the glittering beauty.

But alas! By the time they were through climbing, the tree was completely shrouded in their dusty grey spider web.

When Santa Claus came with the gifts for the children, and saw the tree covered with spider webs, he smiled as he saw how happy the spiders were, but knew how heartbroken the mother would be if she saw the tree covered with the dusty webs. So he turned the webs to silver and gold.

The tree sparkled and shimmered and was even more beautiful than before!
That's why we have tinsel on our tree, and every tree should have a Christmas Spider in its branches.

Here are the boxes I made to hold them, and how convenient..it fits this weeks challenge on CC.

From by belle:

On your project (LO, card, altered item, home decor, etc) combine ribbon with an embellishment like a brad, buckle, charm, sticker, bling, etc. Feel free to get wild! :)

 I used Authentiques~Festive Collection
After a little trial and error I got them to work...

Leave me a comment here or on my post on facebook and I will pick one lucky person to win a spider of their own.

Have a great day!

All about ME!

That's right,it's all about me today.

Our last DT challenge for this term was to do a project that reflected us.
Say what?
I knew a layout was out,I haven't had a decent picture taken of me in ages..I mean AGES!!!

So instead I let the whole thing stew in my head and finally something clicked.

I chose to show you all about me in a slightly different way.
It has all the elements of me.

If you look closely I bet you can guess...well let me help

Here are the things you can learn about me from looking at this picture.
  1. I love to paint.
  2. I love my friends and family.
  3. I love roses.
  4. I love music.
  5. I love sparkly things.
  6. I love old things.
  7. I love travel(though we rarely leave Huron County...)
  8. I have dreams.
  9. I am inspired.
Although I am not a  lover of purple..it is pretty.

This is a journal,a place to reflect a place to add my favourite quotes,pictures..ideas.
Someday my kids will pull this out and remember I wasn't just a mom.

I had a great time during this DT term.

I can't wait for the next one to start.I have been pushed beyond my capabilities to learn and grow and I have been so inspired by the amazing woman I have been working with.

Thank you CC for giving us all the chance to grow as artists and share our projects with everyone.

 Until next time.....

More great DT Projects

Check out Ninas beautiful layout.
For more info head on over to Cropchocolate blog
The Crop the see how she made this.

And don't forget to checkout Miwas layout.

Miwa has a great tutorial on how to make those cute hearts.Check that out HERE
Speaking of hearts..this weeks challenge on CC comes to you from Miwa and Brittany

"Who says hearts have to be pink or red? NOBODY! In fact, Brittany and Miwa challenge you all to use at least 3 hearts - all with a different patterned paper - on your project (whether it be a card, LO, home decor, altered item, etc.). Have fun!"
Here's my take

I cut two hearts and began sewing them together.
Before I closed it up I added a bit of batting to the inside.
Include a little twine before sewing up and add bling.I think I may need to make a few more..
See you next time..

Isn't this a fabulous project!
You can see more of this project over on The CRop also.

They are a bunch of talented ladies for sure!
Stay tuned in the coming weeks to see more great projects from my fellow DT members.

Here was this weeks challenge...

Now that we are at the end of our 'Thankful for" month, create a card, LO, altered art, etc. of something you are thankful for and include twine. For a double entry, create an embellishment made from twine.
This was my entry...

I got a little carried away with the bling but once it was stuck down..it wouldn't come off..so,it stayed..

See you next time.
