This and That..

Spring is on it's way!!It's put me in the cleaning mood so after tidying up my crafty space a bit I decided to get creative
CropChocolate has been posting a new challenge each week and boy some of them have been hard!
Since I have a really bad habit of not updating my blog I thought I would post all of them here in one post...
Here is the latest.
The challenge was to upcycle a flower...duh my favourite thing to do is upcycle!!

I used the bottom of a pop bottle as my flower and stained it with Tim Holtz Raspberry ,Citrus and Espresso alcohol stains.
This paper is ep Life is Good.
I didn't think I would ever use this paper but I did and I really like it.

This is a card I made for a swap and it also worked for the next challenge..3 die cuts, 3 brads, and something that sparkles.

my sparkles are on the first heart but they are hard to see....

I skipped Challenge # 5...I was stumped...

I did make this other stuff....

primary colour challenge

New shape out of simple shapes....

Non traditional colours, Valentines card

So that's it that's all...join me next time when I participate in my first ever blog hop...I might just have some blog candy to go along with it...

Unbirthday Party!

Alice:Oh excuse me,I didn't mean to crash your birthday party.

March Hare: It's not a birthday party, it's an unbirthday party.

Alice: An unbirthday party?

Mad Hatter: well you only have one birthday party each year, but you have 364 unbirthdays!

Happy Unbirthday!

So it's been work work work!!

I've been working hard to get some props done for Alice In Wonderland Jr and be at all the rehearsals too. It's going to be great! GREAT I tell you!

The kids are having fun and so are we.
This weekend I managed to finish up a few of the props.
Well almost.I decided at the last minute that since the Dormouse from Alice isn't actually in this version,I would add him to his favourite spot.

The teapot.

So I began carving him out of clay but that darn.."doesn't shrink" crap did.
So I have to do a little repair work before I can paint him. Then I need to make him his own little teapot.

here's my inspiration

And so far this is what I have.

Once this little guy is dry and nestled in his teapot I will add him to the tea cart.

I made all the teacups out of paper mache, and after dropping one off the top ...onto my head,
I can say from experience, they are very heavy.

Wanna see my lump?

All in all I am pleased with the way it turned out and should be easy for the kids to bring on stage.

The other project I completed this weekend was the rose bushes.Remember those?

Well now they are done.

The white roses are removable so the cardsmen can replace them with red roses during the song.

Well that's all I have done for now, some of our costumes came in this week too and I'm so excited to see them!!
I am truly a dork.

Scrappy Challenges

While things have been busy and I haven't been scrapping much lately I decided to take some time to finish off a couple challenges this weekend.
First is a challenge posted over at Cropchocolate
I had a plan and it actually worked the way I wanted it to!!Yay!!

Paper is from the Be Mine and Yours Truly collections.
I used clear nail polish and sparkles for the hearts and I used a brad from my Wedding collection.

My next project is the monthly challenge over at Authentique I can't submit it to win because it isn't Authentique paper but I don't actually have any of their paper so I had to make do.I needed to get my "scrap on" so I did it anyway.

These papers are my favourite!.This is the Lost and Found Christmas collection from MME.
Hope you enjoy this weeks projects!

See ya next time!

Curiouser and curiouser

So things seem to be extremely busy these days.I have been working like crazy on some Alice in Wonderland props so I thought I would share my progress so far.

I've been making giant mushrooms with paper mache.I started by using an umbrella as the base and covered that in plastic. Then I used strips of paper and my paste (flour and water) and layered them on.

It was looking pretty good I thought and then during the drying process...someone knocked it over. I won't point any fingers but I do have three kids, two dogs and three cats so anyone could be guilty.
It dried kinda wonky so I had to add a few more layers then I thought.

So after adding a few more layers,I also added some real paper mache clay to help strengthen it,fill in some LARGE dents and texture it in a much more pleasant way.
As you can see it's rather large,6 feet-ish to be exact-ish.I used a sonotube (those things they pour cement in for deck posts and such) as my stem.
I plan to wire some lights up inside and add the gills with an old sheer curtain. Not sure what colour to paint it yet though.

Did I mention how very heavy this sucker is?

The next thing I have been working on are the red rose bushes for the Queen.I started by cutting out two large hearts from cardboard.I used 2 inch strips of cardboard and hot glued them around the outside. Then I inserted some strips inside for strength, put in my pole, spray foamed and waited for them to dry.I then glued the top heart on with carpenters glue. Then I placed heavy books on top until it dried.

Next I covered it in the paper mache clay, textured it ,painted it,used my glimmer mist to add dimension(I can't get it to spray without dripping so here it worked great!) and voila!

Next step is to make a flower box,put it on casters and add my roses.I have been playing around with whether to use silk from the dollar store or make paper flowers.I even thought about trying this method using plastic spoons.

I plan to make this next....

Giant crockery stack.

Until next time....

OMG!Has it Really Been that LonG!!!

Wow I guess I need to update my blog more often....Ok here goes...

I have been really busy(ya that's why I've been neglecting my blog)
I'm just beginning to embark on a trip through Wonderland. We're doing Alice in Wonderland Jr as our school play this year and my mind has been conjuring up giant mushrooms and teacups. My house smells unpleasantly like paper mache.....but I'm having fun.

I'll try to keep you all posted on the progress but for now maybe I'll show you a picture or two of some of the scrappy things I've been up to.

Here's an advent calender I did,I got the idea from my CC friend Jasmine Ford...thanks Jas.

This is my layout for the 2nd focus group tryouts challenge on CC.
Most of this is from Mischievous by MME my Halloween favourite-ist paper.

and.....

This is an altered Pringles can I filled with cookies for the neighbours.
I used my favourite new line.. Lost and Found Christmas from MME...
LOVE!

Did I mention that all these papers come from my most favourite online store...
Crop Chocolate...Check them out,they rock.

Ok that's it for now.My computer died a few months back and this one is SOOO slow ....
I'll work on updating more often...I promise.
